New Software Option for Noise Com's GPS7500 Instruments Delivers a Unique Forth/Back Frequency Sweep

Parsippany, NJ,
January 22, 2004
Noise Com today announced the release of the new software option for the GPS7500 Noise and Interference Generators that delivers both forward, reverse and a unique forth/back frequency sweep over the entire 40 MHz output bandwidth at any of the; L1 and optionally L2 or L5, GPS test frequencies.

Noise Com’s new software can provide swept frequency signals at any of the output power levels from -126.5 to +21 dBm of the GPS7500. The software allows designers to set specific CW sweep parameters such as output power, start frequency, stop frequency, sweep duration and sweep type.

"The GPS7500 software answers the call engineers have been looking for in frequency sweeps," said Kent Wardley, vice president of new business development. "With the capability of the forth/back sweeps and multiple parameter settings customers are given the ability to test the susceptibility of advanced GPS receivers to new types of interference without requiring any change of GPS7500 hardware."

Noise Com’s GPS7500 Noise and Interference Generators, introduced in September 2003, are equipped with one or optionally two independent arbitrary waveform generators capable of 40 MHz bandwidth for interference generation over the L1 and L2 or L5 bands. The instrument features an integrated PC that allows user-defined arbitrary interference and jamming waveforms. Sine waves, white noise and arbitrary waveforms can be generated and pulsed at any duty cycle between 0 and 100% at 6.67 nanoseconds resolution and a unique 164.5 dB On/Off ratio. The two-channel, modular design enhances expandability, allowing engineers to simultaneously test GPS receiver operation in L1 and L2 or L5 frequencies. As a result, the instrument effectively tests products based on today’s standards in airborne automotive, defense, mobile location and E911 applications. It also provides an easy route to supporting emerging requirements including controlled reception pattern antenna, CRPA.

The new swept frequency software option will be shown at the ION National Technical Meeting 2004 from January 26-28 in San Diego, California.
